Contemplative insight from Mepkin Abbey, drawn from our daily liturgical readings and homily. Help us to pray, one thought per day.
Gathering us all
As a hen gathers her brood
Jesus unites us
Lord Jesus so cares
Offers His Body for us
Unites, nourishes
Tiny mustard seed
Can grow so large to host birds
Innate Kingdom too
We're community
living and powered by Christ
we're precious to Him
Transformative love
Gives us yet another chance
Jesus never fails
with new eyes to see,
discern signs of the times, and
communicate them
Let world be on fire
Ablaze with the love of Christ
All belov'd by God
Much will be required
From one entrusted with much
Much more, when giv'n more
-St Pope John Paul II
"There is no evil to be faced that Christ does not face with us.
There is no enemy that Christ has not already conquered.
There is no cross to bear that Christ has not already borne for us,
and does not now bear with us."
St Benedict's 12 Steps of Humility: 12) The twelfth step of humility is that a monk always manifests humility in his bearing no less than in his heart, so that it is evident at the Work of God, in the oratory, the monastery or the garden, on a journey or in the field, or anywhere else. Whether he sits, walks or stands, his head must be bowed and his eyes cast down. [RB 7:62-63]
- Adopt a humble posture.
