Contemplative insight from Mepkin Abbey, drawn from our daily liturgical readings and homily. Help us to pray, one thought per day.
To Father through Me
I am the Way, Truth, and Life.
Have faith
Be at peace, have Faith
St Mark challenges:
proclaim the Lord's Joyful Truth
What do I proclaim?
set aside and sent
in the service of Jesus
proclaim Him as Lord
The Good Shepherd leads
In Front, Amindst, from Behind
Throughout and Within
Belong to His flock
not weariness, worldliness...
No "Yes, but..." "No, but..."
Good Shepherd as Gate
God accessing His creatures
and creation, Him.
Belong to Jesus
as sheep to the Good Shepherd
good sheep who follow
where else do we go?
Only Christ is real food, drink
have faith, life in Him
Oh, what a journey!
From Saul, the persecutor,
To Paul, d'Apostle!
Towards communion
into the Body of Christ
Christ, the Bread of Life
Christ, the Bread of Life
Feeds us by the Father's will
till eternity
surrender and trust
no ifs, no buts, the Lord calls
just as did Stephen
The Lord satisfies
All of our human hunger
More so spiritual.
Rejoice, God's belov'd
Confidently hope in Him
His love never fades!
nothing's neglected
all needs are ministered to
no one's neglected
with five loaves, two fish
multitudes were satisfied
God's love enriches
Believe in the Word
Believe in the Cross that saves
God's merciful love
Spared nothing for love,
Transformed, sustained by His Love,
Christ's love up the Cross
Follow the Spirit
Let the Spirit move, direct,
Spiritual people!
Create space for God,
Let God to come among us!
Tell God, I say Yes!
Mercy so Divine,
Christ offers us salvation!
We trust and adore.
To Mary Magd'lene
To Disciples, Apostles,
Now to me, Proclaim!
Cast your net again!
Obey, be surprised, enriched...
Come, let's have breakfast!
Peace be with you, peace!
through locked doors, through fears, remorse
Peace be with you, peace!
both see yet can't see...
but with faith- eyes of the heart,
both can't see yet see!
Deep in tears, then called,
Turn and recognize the Lord
Turn, be free, and tell
"To my Brothers:
Go, tell that they will see Me!"
You with fear and joy.
Christ has arisen!
Gate of Heaven flung open!
Death has been conquered!
Mary's silent YES
Yes from CRADLE to the CROSS
Yes unto the TOMB
boundless compassion
undeterred crucifixion
wrought us salvation
ex-cru(x)ciating
most remembered death of all
Christ's salvific love
self-emptying love
o, take and eat, take and drink
Real Presence stays...
broke bread then betrayed
but lo, it's not the last word
Resurrection is!
Jesus offers self
love, care and strength to remain
Judas refuses
Mary's anointing
Yes, commended by Jesus
Abhorred by Judas
Christ's saving Passion
Emmanuel in compassion
Death to Ress'rection
Be single-hearted
ever united with God
focused, pure in heart.
I AM with Abram
I AM with Isaac, Moses
I AM with you now
Live, think, speak the TRUTH
Truth by God, in God, for God
Stand by TRUTH, be well.
Silent, attentive
Faith invites to obedience
Trust God, like Joseph
Silent, attentive
Faith invites to obedience
Trust God, like Joseph
We most need from God:
Mercy, Mercy, and Mercy.
So too, show mercy.
From death springs new life
like seed buried on the ground
more than hundredfold
Be Nicodemus:
Challenge the heart to listen,
hear out Jesus first!
swim upstream to peace
and there be generative
just like the salmon
O, never forget
Unforgettable to God
spread around His love
You want to be well?
Now get up, pick up and walk
In renewed spirit.
There’s vision of life:
Turn mourning into dancing,
God’s Kingdom on earth.
Up the saving cross
The Father's love sent the Son
Rejoice, sinful weak!
The love commandment:
Just love to live, live to love
With heart, soul, mind, strength
inexhaustible:
what may have been said and done,
regrets? hope in God!
Treasured, handed on
Ways of God’s love and mercy
Christ fulfilled, not failed
Mercy, Lord, mercy
Yes, seventy-seven times
forgiven, forgive
Himself unwelcomed
Christ welcomes all ceaselessly
come, be healed, be free
Spring cleaning is on
How about my heart and soul
The Spirit’s temple?
Prodigal Father,
with wayward, resentful sons,
welcomes and calls home...
with rejections, hurts
do Spiritual composting
so be life-giving
Share in the Lord’s cup
Serve, not served, even suffer
Live life to the full
Be Christ in the world
Be good and help those in need
In humility
In the same manner
Forgiven by the Father,
Give others mercy
Reconciliation:
in lieu of acted-out-rage,
acted-out-goodness!
Get up, go, proclaim:
Be humble, contrite, turn back
Surrender, be free!
Be holy as I
do to others as to Me
be Me as I you
Healing love of Christ,
reaching out, gathering in,
the glory of God
Fasting, like breathing
inhale-exhale, give up - take up
just like and with Christ.
Transform our vision, Lord, open our hearts to the newness of faith.
Guard your heart in the good, and treasure will accumulate.
An open heart is the only way to make space for our transcendent God; vulnerability the only way to touch his immanence.
By prayer and by touch, the sick need help being brought to Jesus. We all need others’ help being brought to Jesus.
Life happens. Jesus is there in gentle approach to grasp our hand and lift us up.
